The Wild Woodgas Stove Mark IIt is exceptionally efficient and versatile. Like most woodgas stoves it is designed to burn wood more cleanly than any open fire due to its secondary burn. This means more heat and less soot from a few twigs. It will also burn solid fuels (like hexamine) or meths in a Trangia-style burner. The stove packs down small for compact packing, with space inside for fuel & firelighting gear. What's more, the whole lot packs into a billy can.
Wood-gas stoves create conditions where 'primary air' partially combusts wood gas, then injectSlice_flames pre-heated 'secondary air' into the top of the combustion chamber to mix with the remaining smoke, resulting in a very hot, clean burn and quick and easy lighting. They produce less carbon monoxide and particulates than open fires, and even rocket stoves. The images show the hot wood gases meeting the pre-heated air, appearing as jets of yellow flame.
This is a 'passive-flow' woodgas stove, meaning the secondary air holes are powered by convection rather than batteries and a fan - using the principle that hot air rises. So not only will you never run out of fuel for as long as you can find a few twigs; you'll also never run out of battery power!
For more information and discussion read the Blog entries on how this stove compares with other woodgas stoves in terms of size and how it compares with its battery-driven brothers the LE and XL.
Height assembled to top of pot supports: 16.3cm
Height packed-down: 6.6 cm
Width: 12.5 - 13.6cm (the base is slightly wider than the top)
Minimum internal diameter: 10.3cm
Materials: the entire stove is made from 304-grade stainless steel
Weight limit: this stove is intended for use for individuals or small groups using lightweight gear. The stove and pot supports very comfortably support 1kg - enough for 4 mugs of tea / soup. We recommend against the use of heavier pots and pans. The stove is powerful, so can heat much larger volumes of liquid in large pots, but it's a good idea to use a trivet to support the pots in that instance.
Drawstring bag (black nylon, included): Carry and keep your stove in this drawstring bag with room for your stove, a charge of fuel and lighting equipment. 20cm w x 24cm h.
Note: although stove packaging does not specify that this is a Wild Woodgas Stove Mk IIt, ALL STOVES now shipped by us are Mk IIt models.
Used sensibly this stove will give many years of safe and fun use. However, all combustion produces carbon monoxide and other harmful emissions - in your car engine, your gas central heating boiler, even your efficient woodgas stove. This stove is designed for use outdoors. Use only outside or under well ventilated shelters. DO NOT USE IN TENTS or other enclosed spaces. Charcoal left at the end of a burn also produces carbon monoxide.
